Music Classes
The classes will recommence in the Tennis Pavillion, Boyle on Tuesday 29th September at 7.30pm. GET ACTIVE TODAY
Boyle GAA is delighted to announce details of its latest initiative Get Active Today with Boyle GAA. This is a seven week programme, open to all, designed to help participants become more active through a variety of activities. The programme will be officially launched in King House by Professor Niall Moyna of DCU on Friday 2nd October at 7:30pm. The initiative, which is kindly sponsored by Kelly’s Londis, The Crescent, is designed for all levels of fitness and features walks, keep fit sessions, circuit training and an introduction to both yoga and pilates. In addition, all participants can attend three talks from a range of experts on exercise, nutrition and metal well being. The seven week programme will culminate in a 10K walk to Lough Forest Park on Sunday 22nd November. You can register on the night of the launch in King House.

BOYLE &DISTRICT ANGLING CLUB
The club have a busy schedule for the month of October starting with the
Paddy Kelly Memorial Perpetual Cup which will take place on Saturday 3rd October at10am until 4.30pm on Lough Gara. This will be a Boat Competition with entries taking place at Templeronan Pier with the presentation of the cup being held on the shore at the end of fishing. The Ladies Cup will be run in conjunction with this event. The Michael Conroy Perpetual Cup will be held on Sunday 17th October at 10am until 4.30 on Lough Key. RUN WALK & ROLL
The 20th annual Boyle fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research will take place in Boyle on Sunday 11th October at 2pm.Originally known as The Terry Fox run in 1986 and rebranded in 2011 to Run Walk n Roll .This is a 5.5 km run/walk for all the family young and old with refreshments served in St. Josephs Hall afterwards. For those who want a to push it on there is the perpetual trophy and it would be great to see some former winners there again this year. There will be a 20th anniversary wristband and Irish Cancer Society T-Shirt for all. Entry is €10 for adults and registration will take place in St Josephs Hall from 12.30. Concessions are available for children and families. Children on bicycles must be accompanied by an adult. Walk the world
walk with us in aid of the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Society on Saturday 17th October at 2pm commencing at Cooney Motors show room, Greatmeadow. Registration forms can be had at the till in store. This is in aid of a great cause, so please walk or donate.

Boyle Badminton
Badminton resumes on Monday nights.  Registration for the year is €50 and this needs to be paid by October 12th. If you are registered with another club then you can register in Boyle Badminton Club for €25 After October 12th Registration will cost €70. Celtic Draw
Tickets are now on sale for the Boyle Celtic Fuel Draw which will take place in Dodd’s Crescent Bar on Saturday 31st October. Tickets are available from players, committee members and retail outlets in the area. Great prizes to be won.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Neighbourhood Youth Project (NYP) is currently recruiting volunteers for the project. They would love to hear from you. What’s in it for you? An opportunity to exercise and develop valuable skills in leadership, facilitation and mentoring.  An excellent way to share a skill or hobby of interest in a fun and relaxed environment.  Training and opportunities to progress in Foroige and also to be a part of an exciting, vibrant youth organisation. Thursday17th October saw the nine hole won by Brendan Gaffney 22pts, 2nd Lorcan Egan 20pts, and 3rd Seamus Gallagher 19pts. This was the final Thursday competition of the season. Thanks to all who took part, to all who sponsored prizes, to Mary for her hospitality and to all who looked after the bar. Special thanks to Michael Rush for organising and we look forward to the Thursday nights starting again next April.

Update 18th September



Boyle Scouts
Registration Night for all New and Existing members will take place on Wednesday 23rd September at 7 pm until 9 pm in the Scout Den. All Parents who wish to enrol a child for the coming year must please register them on this night. The minimum age is strictly 6 years old.  While accepting registration of New Members, places will be dependent on returning member numbers and therefore cannot be immediately guaranteed. Weekly meetings will resume the following week beginning Monday 28th September. Anyone who may be interested in becoming a Leader in any of the Sections would be most welcome and can contact the Group Leader on 086 836 0222 or any Leader for further details. KING HOUSE EVENT
Kieran Quinn, the famous Sligo pianist will be play in King House on the evening of Friday September 25th as part of his 32 Pianos tour. CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

Run Walk n Roll
The 20th annual Run Walk n Roll event in aid of Cancer Research will take place in Boyle on Sunday 11th October. With the event celebrating 20 years it would be great to see a big turnout of all ages on the day so get on your training shoes with 5 weeks to go. Any novelty ideas welcome, more details to follow.

New fitness machines
A welcome and new addition to the facilities in Lough Key Forest Park is the ten station outdoor fitness machines that have been installed on one of the popular walkways. Each station has two fitness machines ranging from shoulder press to exercise bikes etc. giving twenty exercises to complete on the route. The machines are located as one walks from the Moylurg Tower to the Big Tree and around by the Tree line Canopy to the Ice House. They were installed by Kiltimagh based company Outfit Ltd. Also under construction is a multi use outdoor pitch like facility that can be utilised for soccer and other games. It is located in the green area behind the old church.

Healthy Eating for Kids
The Family Life Centre is the venue for the healthy eating for kid’s morning on Wednesday 16th September 10.30am until 12pm.  Easy meals for busy Mums and Dads choosing healthy food within a reasonable budget! Cost €5.

CULTURE NIGHT 2015
Tour the Historic King House, Boyle with concert and Yeats Poetry all for free on Friday 18th September with Therese Fahy, Irelands leading international female pianist, will play an exciting mixture of old and new piano masterpieces at King House on Friday 18th September at 8pm admission Free. A highlight will be a piece by Roscommon based composer Siobhan Cleary, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of WB Yeats. Dublin-born concert pianist Therese enjoys an active performing career at home and abroad. Recently described by the Irish Times as a tour de force, her regular recital and concerto appearances throughout Europe and the United States have met with critical acclaim, as have her numerous broadcast for both RTE and BBC.

BOYLE LIBRARY EVENT
Culture night in the Library will consist of crafting demonstrations including Quilting and basket making on Friday 18th September from 5pm until 8pm. Culture night is brought to you by the Departments of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Oireachtas na Gaeilge and Foras na Gaeilge in partnership with Roscommon County Council and supported by the Arts Council.

On Sunday 6th September saw the King Cup won by Sean Heslin with a great score of 45pts, 2nd Martin Wynne 42pts, Gross Patrick Egan, 3rd Padraig O’Connell 42pts.Thursday 3rd September night Mens Competition was won by Vincent Egan with 22pts, 2nd Killian Doyle 22pts, 3rd Brendan Gaffney 21pts. Fridays Scramble was won by Brendan Gaffney, Joyce Boles, and David Boles & Susan. The weekly nine hole re-commences on Monday September 21st and can be played Monday – Saturday. Entry €5.00 re-entry €3.00. A new Mixed Foursomes competition for the Boyle Motor Works Cup takes places on Saturday/Sunday September 19th/20th. Players pick their own partners and arrange opposites. At the presentation of prizes last Sunday 6th September Niall Kearney was presented with the King Harmon Trophy following his win over Lionel Lynn in the final. Lionel was presented with a runners-up prize. The August draw was won by Denis & Mary O’Donnell €70, runners up James Shivnan & Pat Conroy. Man. Utd supporters club meeting
The Manchester United Supporters Club county Roscommon branch will hold a Membership Meeting on Thursday September 10th. It will commence at 9.30pm in The Patrick’s Well, Boyle. New Members are welcome. This is the final opportunity this season to register through your local branch.

Cannonball Run in the Boyle area
Car enthusiasts are in for treat in Boyle on Friday September 11th when the seventh Cannonball Run travels past the town on the N4. The three day Cannonball Run is the largest organised road trip in Europe and the most exciting motoring and social event of the year. The trip typically features 170 cars including the world’s top makes: McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley. Cannonball Ireland has raised over 700,000 euro for Irish Children Charities. This year, Make A Wish Ireland will be Cannonball Ireland charity. It is a spectacle to behold as the cars and their colourful drivers make their way around Ireland. Friday 11th will see the cars travel from Dublin to Sligo, stopping in Carrick on Shannon 1.30 then heading for Sligo 4.30. Further details on www.cannonball.ie

TENNIS
Coaching for children (5 +) will resume at the Boyle Tennis Club from Monday 12th September from 4pm until 5pm. This is a six week course until Monday 19th October.
