COLOUR RUN
Roscommon Colour Run takes place in Lough Key on Sunday, 11th September from 1pm to 3pm - this is a fantastic ‘crawl, walk, or run’. This event is suitable for all ages and abilities and celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.

SECRET GARDENS
Created by two artists in an intimate rural setting, this garden combines productivity, ornamental planting and permaculture. Winding grass paths lead to ponds, developing woodland and polytunnel, one jungle-themed and one for fruit and veg. With an eclectic mix of planting and sculpture, this 16 year old garden is still developing. Open 11am until 5pm on 11th September. On R361 Boyle – Frenchpark, Right after Saddlers Inn. EXPERIENCE THE DANCE HALL ERA
Boyle will be brought back to the Golden Age of Ireland’s iconic Dance Hall/Showband Era of the 1950’s and 60’s on Saturday, September 24th, when this magical era will be lovingly recreated for one night only. Traditional unaccompanied singing, in English and Irish takes place in Dodd’s Crescent Bar (back room), The Crescent, Boyle the third Saturday of every month, all year around, 9.30pm onwards. All singers and listeners welcome.

BOYLE GOLF CLUB NEWS
The highlight of the weekend at Boyle GC was the hosting of the James Shivnan Memorial Golf Challenge. The wet conditions did not deter the large field of players, a testament to how well James was universally liked and fondly remembered. The day raised over €2600 which will be donated to the Mayo/Roscommon Palliative Care Team & Oncology Unit Sligo. Thanks to all who supported including those non players who made donations.
A Golfer of the Year Strokeplay Competition was held on Sunday with Seamus Gallagher returning the best score on 67 nett. In second was Club Captain Ross Andrew on the same score, gross went to Gary Carty with 72, and in third was Michael Rush with 69 nett. This result will put Seamus in a strong position on the GOY leaderboard with only three events remaining.
Junior Golf: Junior Golf Lessons will recommence on Saturday 3rd September from 11am-1pm.

COURTYARD MARKET
The Market is open from 10am to 2pm each and every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle. Boyle Chamber lotto Winner
Boyle Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Teresa McQuaid of Deerpark, Boyle who was the lucky winner of last Monday night’s lotto. Teresa receives the Jackpot of €2540 for her lucky numbers, and is a regular supporter of Boyle Chamber Lotto. The previous Monday night’s winner was Sheila Ryan who won the jackpot of over €18000. Thanks again to all the weekly supporters of Boyle Chamber Lotto. 300 YEars of History Museum

Wheelchair Hurling
Boyle will play host to the first round of the GAA Interprovincial Wheelechair Hurling League on Saturday 27th August. It will be the first time that an All-Ireland Wheelchair Hurling event will be hosted in Co. Roscommon. The event will take place in the Sports Complex in the grounds of Abbey Community College.

The 9 hole stableford on Sunday 14th of August was won by Pat Conroy with 22pts, in second place was Jonathan Egan with 20pts, while in third position was Cian Smith with 20pts. 
The men’s 9 hole stableford open on Thursday 11th August was won by Owen Garvin with 22pts, in second was Seamus Gallagher also with 22pts and in third was Liam Whyte with 21pts. 
The Boyle Courthouse Classic which was originally scheduled for Saturday 6th August has now been postponed until the October Bank Holiday Weekend.

KING HOUSE EVENT
Roscommon County Council Youth Theatre will be presenting “If I Was In The GPO We Would Have Won” written and directed by Catherine Sheridan. A poignant fictitious story set against the backdrop of the 1916 Rising that deals with ordinary people that were extraordinary at that time. This event will be taking place in King House, Boyle on Friday 19th August and Saturday 20th August at 8pm. For bookings call 071 966 3242.

LEAVING CERT ENGLISH
An intensive day of tuition to set your child on the right path for the Leaving Certificate Honours English Examination, prepared and delivered by an experienced teacher and examiner will be held in Boyle on Friday 19th of August from 9.00am to 4.00pm. LOUGH KEY BOAT REGATTA
Pete Walsh Lough Key Boat Regatta in aid of SHOUT will take place on Saturday 20th August. SHOUT has worked since 2003 in the provision of “Better Cancer Care” to support both individual patients and their families and the Sligo Regional Hospital Cancer Service. All are welcome to join, meeting in Lough Key harbour at 5.30pm. Everyone is welcome and we would love all to join in remembrance to the Captain Pete in his favourite place on the beautiful Lake of Lough Key and to raise funds to help others locally.

MUSIC NIGHT CHARITY EVENT
There will be a Music Night Charity Event in Daly's Storehouse, Boyle on Saturday 20th August. Doors open at 6.00pm. Special Guests include Marc O'Polo, David E. Idioh, Marc Egan, Paddy Fennelly, Brian McQuaid and Darragh King, The Antics Unplugged, The Walk and Audio Fusion.

THE FULL MONTY
Pop Up Theatre are bringing their popular show “The Full Monty” to Boyle. Starring local men Brendan Reid and Darragh Beirne, the Full Monty will take to the stage in St. Joseph's Hall, Boyle for two nights on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August. BOYLE SUMMER SHOW
The tradition of the Summer Show in Boyle has been revived in recent years with great success. There are lots of new events to experience – Pony Jumping, All Ireland Championship Qualifier Dog show, Donkey Derby and much more! The Boyle Horse and Summer Show has moved to its new location at the Boyle GAA Training Grounds (not Abbey Park), located in The Warren, the town side of Drumderrig Nursing Home. We hope that this site will become the home of the show for many years to come. The location is ideally situated close to the town, on level ground and sheltered from the elements. We are delighted to host a Mounted Games Association of Ireland competition, their first venture in the North West – these competitive games are thrilling to watch and add to the enjoyment of the day. Mr. Roger Prager of the Lough Arrow Estate has kindly re-gifted the Lough Arrow Cup to the Show, the winner of the 1.3m SJI affiliated competition will be presented with a replica of the cup, but the original will be displayed on the day. With all the usual attractions and over 40 stalls we hope to see the Boyle Horse and Summer Show grow into the popular community event it should be.

BOYLE GOLF CLUB NEWS
Sunday’s Lorcan Egan Insurance sponsored 18 hole stroke was won by Sean Heslin (10) with a 63 nett, in second was Vincent Egan (18) 64 nett, gross went to Charlie O’Donnell on 73, and in third was Seamus Gallagher (21) 66 nett. The win brings Sean right into contention in the Golfer of the Year competition considering he is guaranteed extra points for the King Harmon matchplay. Saturday’s last person standing competition was won by Pat Conroy, who finished on the 19th hole. Michael Rush was second also finishing on the same hole. The ladies prize was won by Regina McLoughlin (17th Hole). Thursday’s men’s weekly competition was won by Seamus Gallagher with 21pts. In second was Dave Purser with 20pts. Friday evening’s scramble was won by Michael Reid, Seamus Gallagher, Tommy King & Carmel Keenan.
There will be a James Shivnan Memorial Golf Challenge on Saturday 20th August. The format will be an 18 hole singles competition with proceeds going to the Mayo/Roscommon Palliative Care Team and Oncology Unit Sligo.

BOYLE GAA CLUB MONSTER AUCTION
Preparations are ongoing for our Monster Auction on Saturday 13th August, Some of the items to be auctioned include: furniture (3-piece suite, coffee tables, table and chairs), vouchers for Beauticians, Barbers, Hairdressers, Mens clothing, Hotel break, Car servicing, English higher level leaving cert grinds, signed Joe Canning Hurley, signed Roscommon Jersey, bags of turf, timber, pass for the races, bottles of spirits, 20 pints of beer, pass for Zip-it, yearly passes to Lough Key, Jewellery and voucher for Vets practice and a completed Will by Solicitor. Boyle & district angling club
Next Angling Competition will be the Martin Mitchell Charity Cup (Incorporating Ladies Cup) taking place at Lough Key on Sunday 14th August from 11am until 6pm and will be a Boat Competition.

Swimming lessons for Boyle children
Swimming lessons will be provided in Roscommon Leisure Centre this year for Boyle children from August 15th to 23rd. They will be conducted by the Irish Water Safety Association. Children aged between 7 and 13 years are eligible. Cost is €50 to include transport. The Captain’s Day for 2016 took place on Sunday 31st July with a large number of members competing for Ross Andrew’s Prize. The best score after the first 18 holes was brought in by student member Cillian Doyle with an excellent 60 nett.  Captain’s Prize to Ladies: 1st Liz Dwyer, 2nd Kathleen Candon Gross Tish Perry, 3rd Sandra McCrann. Boyle Traditional Singers Circle
Traditional unaccompanied singing, in English and Irish takes place in Dodd’s Crescent Bar (back room), The Crescent, Boyle the third Saturday of every month, all year around, 9.30pm onwards. All singers and listeners welcome.

The Market is open from 10am to 2pm each and every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle.
