Registration for Toughest Muckers
Ireland’s Toughest Muckers challenge in Lough Key Forest Park will take place on June 13th 2015. Online registration for the event is now open. The organisers hope to run two events per year. To register log on to www.toughmucker.ie 

ALZHEIMER’S TEA DAY

KING HOUSE SALON SESSION
Ciaran O Maonaigh is a fiddle player from Donegal. A noted musician he is no stranger to touring and his virtuosity and charismatic stage presence, make him a natural performer. This time he in on the road with Caitllin Nic Gabhan, three times winner of the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil on concertina and a regular performer at festivals and in concert halls around the world. This pairing brings together two of the finest instrumentalists on the Irish traditional scene and is brought to you in association with Age & Opportunity as part of Bealtaine 2015. DUCK RACE FUNdRAISER
A Duck Race will now take place on the Boyle River on Saturday, May 30th commencing at the bridge on Bridge Street at 1pm. Ducks will cost €5 each - 1st Prize, €500, 2nd Prize €200 and 3rd €100. Cards are being distributed around the town so please make sure you get your duck early! Your Support is most appreciated between 4pm & 6pm.Saturday, 4th July between 3pm & 5pm. All proceeds in aid of Boyle Courthouse Project.

CLASSIC CYCLING SPORTIVE
Are you interested in competing in the Lough Key Classic Cycling Sportive that will take place in Boyle on Saturday May 16th?  If so, the local cycling club Curlieu Wheelers are commencing training cycles for those who would like to complete the 60k route. The cycles will start with a short 10-15k and gradually build up each week to get you in shape to undertake the challenge. All you need is a road worthy bicycle, helmet and high vis jacket. Training cycles have commenced from the Crescent and continue every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter at 7pm. A club member will be on hand to assist and lead each cycle.

Boyle Golf Club
On 26th April The Men’s AGM took place which saw outgoing Captain Padraig O’Connell welcome incoming Captain Michael Rush and Vice-Captain Ross Andrew with best wishes for 2015. The Captain was thanked by the members for his great contribution and the support he gave to the club. The Secretary Brendan Gaffney gave a report on the clubs activities during 2014. He thanked all the officers, and members for their great support. The Treasurer Liam Mullaney gave a financial report for 2014. Open week had been a great success and competition revenue had held up well. Tributes were paid at the meeting to all the volunteers with special mention for Michael Rush, John McGuinn, and Lionel Lynn. The full list of officers elected is as follows: Captain Michael Rush, Vice-Captain Ross Andrew, President Charlie O’Donnell, Secretary Brendan Gaffney, and Treasurer Liam Mullaney. The AGM of the Parent Club will take place on Sunday December 7th at 5.00pm in the Clubhouse.
In Ladies news best wishes to incoming Lady Captain Sandra McCrann and Vice-Captain Tish Perry. 


The pace will be very leisurely and totally focussed on the social aspect of cycling.
We will cover whatever distance you are comfortable with and stop for tea/coffee and refreshments during or after the spin.
Current members will accompany you every step of the way.

Make new friends, get helpful advice on cycling and bike maintenance, feel fitter, get confident on the road.

There is a wide range of seasonal produce, including organic fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and marmalade, organic free range eggs, fruit juices, gluten free/ sour dough/ spelt bread and all kinds of delicious home bakes are available every week. Alongside the food stalls are a number of crafters selling their handmade wares, personalized candles and knitwear. Musical Society AGM on Friday

Boyle Musical Society will hold its’ Annual General Meeting in Dodd’s Bar, the Crescent, on Thursday April 30th at 8pm. All past, present and indeed future members are invited to attend.

ROSCOMMON LAMB FESTIVAL 2015
The Festival will be taking place on the May Bank Holiday Weekend Wednesday April 29th until Monday May 4th with a large variety of demos and workshops, guided tours, traditional music, artisan foods stalls from around the County, sheepdog trials, coarse angling competition and much more.

BOYLE GOLF CLUB FUNDRAISER
Boyle Golf Club is holding a club fundraising classic this May weekend (Saturday 2nd until Monday 4th) with a prize fund of €1200. Format is a four ball rumble with a cost of €100 per team including hot meal. The competition can be played Saturday, Sunday or Monday and re-entry is €10. Prizes are for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Best Ladies Team, Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive. Tee-times can be booked on line at www.boylegolfclub.com.
The weekend starts with a “Quiz & Curry Nite” on the Friday evening. Tickets are €15 including free entry for the scramble. Funds raised will go towards ongoing course improvements including greens, tee boxes and bunkers. All support appreciated.

On Sunday 19th April saw the Golfer of the Year won by Terry Bright with a score of 65, 2nd Gary Carty 66, Gross Jim Mooney, and Paddy McLoughlin 67. A club fundraiser takes place on the May Bank Holiday (Saturday – Monday). Format is a four ball rumble, Teams €100 including hot meal with a Re-entry €10 per person. All support appreciated. Funds will go towards ongoing course maintenance. To start the weekend a quiz and curry night will take place on the Friday May 1st. Details on notice board and on the website. LOUGH KEY/BOYLE SHUTTLE BUS
It would be most appreciated if you would attend a brief meeting on Thursday 23rd April at 8pm in Boyle Enterprise Centre – your input is important – as summer is approaching fast and plans need to be put in place if the Lough Key / Boyle Shuttle Bus will run this summer! While much of the ground work has already been done, updates and decisions will need to be made. It takes the town to run the shuttle bus so please mark Thursday 23rd April 8pm in your diary.

THE HARRINGTON STUDIOS LAUNCH
Cllr John Cummins, Cathaoirleach, Roscommon County Council cordially invites you to the official opening of the Harrington Studios in the grounds of King House, Boyle on Friday 24th April at 2.30. The aim of The Harrington Studios is to support contemporary, multi-disciplinary arts practices. Located in the grounds of the historically significant King House, the studio’s mission is to encourage a curiosity for the surrounding region and environment while fostering relationships between residents and the wider artistic community, bringing critically engaging contemporary practices to the broader public. The artists currently in residence are Gavin Porter and Susan Mannion. Light refreshments will be served.

BOYLE TENNIS CLUB

VISUAL ART PROGRAMME
The 2015 Visual Arts programme for King House will begin with an exhibition by Christine Mackey running parallel with Context: 01, an exhibition of works from the Boyle Civic Art Collection that respond to Christine’s work. Mackey’s work involved an engagement with students from St Nathys College and local publics. This process led to the publication of BACKLANDS a fold up map devised through a series on works that relate to the “logging” process will be installed in the Long gallery of King House, inviting audiences to engage on their own exploration of this typical town in County Roscommon. The Exhibition preview will take place on Saturday April 18th and will run until Saturday June 13th.

Workshops and Training on Green Opportunities: Community Groups, Enterprises and Individuals. The Accelerate Green Enterprise programme, based in Boyle, Co. Roscommon is offering a range of workshops and training for interested individuals, businesses and groups. All workshops are free and include themes such as - how to create viable business opportunities from natural resources, understanding the green customer of the future - and much more. The programme also offers an IdeaGen platform which will assist budding entrepreneurs with a green idea, seeking to test out the idea and receive advice on how to move it forward.
