Fun Run/Walk in aid of children with Autism
The 3rd Annual 5k Fun Run/Walk in aid of children with Autism in Lough Key Forest Park on Tuesday 27th December at 2pm until 3pm. Rapid Prompting Method Ireland Ltd. is a charity which is supporting Education and Communication to those living with Autism. Curlew Walkers Club

BOYLE GOLF Club Results
Dec 18th’s 9 hole stableford was won by David Wynne with 23pts, in second was Dave Purser with 22pts (c/b), while in third was Vincent Egan also with 22pts. 
In upcoming fixtures, the annual Christmas Scramble will be held on Tuesday 27th December.  The draw is at 12.45pm with a shotgun start at 1pm.

Creightons New Year’s Eve Celebration
New Years Eve, Saturday December 31st gather your friends around and pop in to Creighton’s to ring in the New Year in style with live music by ‘Ted’. Eddie and Sylvia would like to thank you all for your custom in 2016 and to wish you and yours a happy and , healthy Christmas and New Year.

Local Link Revised Timetable
The revised schedule will give passengers the opportunity to avail of bus transport for an hour twice a day every day to come into town and back morning and afternoon from the Bells Park Lowpark, Mockmoyne Road. The driver will drop you off at Bridge Street, the Post Office, the Crescent or at the Supermarket and collect you an hour later to go home.
The Bus from Boyle to Roscommon leaves Boyle three times daily: 07:35 and 12:00 and 16:00. If you want to visit a relative over Christmas, the Bus Service is there to help you to make that contact along the route between Boyle, Elphin, Strokestown and Roscommon Town. Boyle Christmas Lights
The crew thank sincerely all who so generously supported the Mega Cash Draw - over 50 cards were sold and all proceeds raised go towards lighting up Boyle over the Christmas period. Special thanks to the volunteers who gave up their valuable time to sell the raffle lines. Thanks also to Londis and SuperValu for allowing us sell the lines at their premises.

Congratulations to Boyle Priest
Fr. John Coughlan, who is the curate at St. Joseph’s Parish, Boyle, has been appointed Director of Formation at the Pontifical Irish College, Rome.  Fr. John will remain in Boyle for about six months, before going to Rome to take up his new responsibilities.
Announcing the appointment today, Bishop Kevin Doran said: “Fr. Coughlan’s appointment is our way of saying that the Diocese of Elphin believes in the future of the priesthood. We hope that, in the coming years, we will be able to send seminarians both to the Irish College and to Maynooth”.

NEVEN MAGUIRE COMES TO KILRONAN CASTLE
A cookery demonstration with the renowned chef Neven Maguire will take place on Wednesday 1st March 2017 in Kilronan Castle. Tickets priced €20 are now on sale. This is a fundraising event in aid of Ardcarne Community Childcare Services and Cootehall National School.

The Market is open from 10am to 2pm each and every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to Boyle Courtyard Market on Saturday should be on your agenda. There is a wide range of seasonal produce, including organic fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and marmalade, organic free range eggs, fruit juices, gluten free/ sour dough/ spelt bread and all kinds of delicious home bakes are available every week. Alongside the food stalls are a number of crafters selling their handmade wares, so why not come along and have a chat with the stall holders and avail of their ideas. BOYLE Garda station
Increased opening hours at Boyle Garda Station are as follows: Monday to Saturday (Inclusive) 9am until 1pm and 7pm until 10pm, Sunday 11am until 1pm. On occasion it may be necessary for the Garda working at the station having to respond to call or incident of an urgent nature. If this arises, they will have to temporarily close the station in order to respond to the incident.  In addition to providing increased opening hours this will provide greater uniformity and consistency for the public. Gardai wish to thank the people of Boyle and the surrounding area for their continued support. Gardai can still be contacted on a 24hr bases on the existing telephone number 071 9664 620.

St. Stephen’s Day Treasure Hunt
The annual St Stephen’s Day Treasure Hunt in aid of Mayo/Roscommon Hospice will take place at 2.30pm in Lough Key Forest & Activity Park. Answers to be handed in afterwards to the quiz masters who are the Conneely’s, at Clarkes’s Bar, St Patrick’s Street, Boyle, where the results will be announced.

Congratulations to Boyle Town Team on winning the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Award for County Roscommon and also named the overall winner of the Bank of Ireland National Enterprising Town Competition.

BOYLE GOLF Club Results
The Christmas bonanza was held on Sunday 11th December with a large number of members participating. Forty points was the mark required for the gents to feature in the top three. First prize went to Paul Connolly (18) 40pts, on a countback from John McGuinn (9) 40pts & Lionel Lynn (20) 40pts. The gross prize went to Lorcan Egan. In the ladies section, first place went to Sandra McCrann, in second was Regina McLoughlin & in third was Mary O'Hara. The club's monthly draws also took place on Sunday for October-December. The winners were John & Claire Cryan, Seamus & Marie Gallagher & Denis & Mary O'Donnell. The runners up were Liam Mullaney, Denis & Mary O'Donnell (again!), Michael Gilmartin, Padraig O'Connell, Gerry Carty & Jonathan Egan. Thanks to all who entered these draws.

Final 1916 Celebration
County Roscommon’s final celebration to mark the 100th year anniversary of the 1916 Rising will be taking place in King House, Boyle on Wednesday 14th December
Well known writers from Roscommon, Longford and Mayo will be reading from their collection of stories and poems reflecting on 1916. Tickets €5.00 (Part of Proceeds to be donated to Barnardos Children's Charity) Refreshments provided. For more information contact King House on www.kinghouse.ie

DEAR SANTa
Have you got a little someone who would like to receive a personal letter from the man in red himself this December?  Una Bhan Craft Shop has established a direct line to Santa Claus and has arranged for him to reply to children's letters. Your child can write their letter to Santa and post it in the ‘Special Santa Box’ in the Una Bhan Craft Shop, €5 per child (to cover admin charges - no stamp required!), then leave the rest to us.  Make sure your child includes their full name, address, age and special requests for Christmas and include a mention of any brothers, sisters or special friends so the reply can be really personal. We will make sure that Santa gets to read each letter and write a personal letter back, which will be posted directly to the child. Santa’s Letter Service will run up until Friday 17th December.

Boyle Lights Crew
Great momentum in Boyle and congratulation to the Boyle Town Team on being awarded Ireland’s Most Enterprising Town. The Boyle lights crew are selling lines on Saturday 17th at various locations in Boyle. We appeal to you or any of your employees to spare one hour to man a table and help raise funds to ensure our lights are the brightest over the Christmas Season, and we take pride in being awarded Boyle’s most Enterprising town. Canicross Championships in Boyle
The second race of the Canicross Ireland National and Provincial Championships 2016/2017 will take place this year in Lough Key Forest Park on Sunday the 18th December. Canicross is the sport of running off-road with your dog. The human participant wears a waist belt which attaches via a 2-metre bungee line to a padded dog harness. As the Lough Key event is taking place the week before Christmas, the organisers have decided it will be a Santa Run. Spot prizes will be given for best dressed!
Remember, you have to dress up for the event, preferably as Santa as it is a Santa Run!
Dogs can be dressed up so long as they’re comfortable with what they’re wearing and they will not be allowed to wear their outfit when competing!

The final turkey voucher of the year took place on Sunday 4th December with the standard of scoring remaining high. In first place was Club Captain Gerry O’Hara (20) with 24pts, in second was Liam Whyte (13) 23pts, while Paul Connolly (18) took third on a countback  with 22pts. Last week’s Winter Open competition was won by Liam Mullaney (15) with 22pts.

Roscommon Safe Links are acknowledging the International 16 Days of Action opposing violence against woman by holding an Open Day at their premises in Elphin St, Boyle on Thursday 8th December from 11am until 4pm. everyone is welcome to call for a cup of tea and a chat and discover the work that is done for the community. Roscommon Safe Link are hosting a Fundraising Monster Bingo on Sunday 11th December at 3pm in St Josephs Hall, Boyle. Your support would be appreciated. SALE OF WORKS

Sunday 27th November saw the  9 Hole Turkey Voucher won by Lorcan Egan (9) courtesy of a level par nine for 23pts, in second was Sean Heslin (9) with 22pts (c/b), and in third was Pat Conroy (18) also on 22pts. The presentation of these vouchers along with other outstanding prizes will take place on the evening of December 11th – which is the date for this year’s Christmas Bonanza. A WhatsApp Group for the men’s club has been
set up recently to aid with the arranging of playing partners. It is hoped members will engage with this platform to arrange their games. Contact Gary Carty if you have not received the link to access it.
