IRELANDS TOUGHEST MUCKERS
With less than three weeks remaining until Ireland’s Toughest Muckers takes place in Boyle’s Lough Key Forest Park, places are filling fast. You can still register online at irelandstoughestmuckers.ie. This strength and endurance challenge will take place on Saturday June 10th. The 10k event will have a number of new features this year. A “Little Muckers” course is added this year for participants under 16 years of age with all monies raised from this section going to a nominated children’s charity. This is the fifth year for Toughest Muckers to be held in Boyle and early indications are that it will be a sell-out event.
And remember, your entry gets you free beer, food and entertainment at the finish line!

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB
The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers club will be taking  place on Sunday 11th June. Meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 9 am  This will be a Climb Graden A/B at Slieve League. LOUGH KEY EVENT
Midlands Aquathon Series in Boyle will take place in Lough Key on Wednesday 14th June starting at 7.30pm. A swim and run event hosted by Lough Key Triathlon Club, consisting of 750m swim and 5k run - Entry  €10 with TI licence (1 Day Licence required if you do not have a TI race licence)

BOYLE ARTS FESTIVAL
This is a reminder to all artists, local, new, those from further afield and those under 25 that it is time to be thinking of your entry to the Boyle Open Art Exhibition. The exhibition runs this year from Friday 21st July until Saturday 29th July. It is anticipated to be another excellent show for 2017, exhibits for which will be selected by an anonymous panel. Handing in of entries will take place as always in the Church of Ireland, Parochial School on Military Road, Boyle (opposite Boyle Family Resource Centre) on Friday 7th July between 4pm until 6pm and Saturday 8th July from 4pm until 6pm. Entries will be accepted in any medium, to a maximum of 3 per person. Entry forms are available in Una Bhan Tourism, in the Grounds in King House, Boyle or call 071 9663 033.

Enrolment is now open for an all Irish summer camp which will take place from Monday 26th until Friday 30th of June in Boyle. FAI SOCCER CAMP COMES TO BOYLE
The annual FAI Soccer Camp will take place at Celtic Park in Boyle from the 7th to the 11th of August. The camps cater for players of all abilities and participants are grouped according to ability and age to ensure that everyone gets the most out of being on a SportsDirect.com FAI Summer Soccer School. Camps run from 10.30am until 3pm from Monday to Friday.
Beginners will learn the fundamental football skills needed to be a player and receive a fun and dynamic introduction to playing the game. More seasoned players will focus on more technical and skill-specific training and everyone will come together in the afternoon to participate in mini-leagues and small-sided games. The coaching programme for the week is fully aligned to our Player Development Plan and offers young players the opportunity to maximise their learning and development in a fun and safe environment whilst doing what every young football loves to do – SCORE GOALS!

BOYLE GOLF CLUB
Sunday 21st May saw the Bart Moran Trophy won by Pat Conroy with a score of 64, in second was Jim Dwyer with 66, the gross prize was won by Gary Carty with 72, and in third was Pat Brogan with 67. The ladies Niamh Nangle Cup was won by Marie Hanmore Cawley, in second was Ruth Hogg while in third was Paula Cull. Well done to all prize winners. Thursday 18th May saw the men’s competition won by Sean Heslin with 24pts, in second was Michael Rush 23pts and third was Ted Hester also with 23pts. Entries are now being taken for the club’s singles matchplay competition, the King Harmon Cup. The sign-up sheet is on the noticeboard in club house... The foursome’s match play competition has progressed to round three with these games to be played by 10th June.  Junior Golf lessons for kids aged 8-16 began Saturday 20th May at 11am and will continue every Saturday until the end of August. They are coordinated by Junior Convenor Brendan Gaffney along with Moira Egan & Paddy Nangle and are free of charge (excluding membership).

BOYLE FAMILY RESOURCE
Get ready for Spring/Summer by doing a clear-out. There is a clothing bank outside the Boyle Family Resource Centre (Family Life Centre) which accepts old clothes, bed linen, handbags and shoes that are sent for recycling. Your support and donations are very much appreciated as this helps raise funds towards the Centres programmes and community work. No Duvets and Pillows and as they cannot be recycled.

Boyle Arts Festival – thank you
The committee would like to sincerely thank all for the tremendous sponsorship support we have received. This year’s Festival will run from July 20th to 30th featuring almost 50 events over ten days. We will soon launch our programme and if anyone would like to become a sponsor, it is still not too late to be included in the programme and a donation can be made to any of the Committee members.

Three Tenors concert cancelled
The Three Tenors concert due to take place in St. Joseph’s Church in Boyle on Sunday May 21st has been cancelled. A spokesperson for the Three Tenors confirmed to Boyletoday.com that the concert was cancelled “due to circumstances beyond our control”. The spokesperson stated that a new date will be rescheduled shortly.

GARDA VETTING BUREAU
Garda Vetting is legally mandatory for everyone who works or volunteers with children and vulnerable adults. A short presentation will give an overview of the Garda Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act and will provide information on the steps community groups should take to ensure they are compliant. Information will also be given on the “E-Vetting” system and give tips on avoiding delays and problems. Training on the Key Requirements for Community Groups who fundraise and are charities and aren’t sure what they need to do to be compliant under the Charities Act. The training will take place from 2pm until 5pm on Thursday 25th May in Roscommon Leader Partnership Office, Golf Links Road, Roscommon Town The training is free, but places are limited. Suicide Alertness evening in Boyle
Boyle Family Resource Centre are hosting safeTALK ‘suicide alertness for everyone’ on Monday 29th of May 7pm-10pm. The aim of this evening is to increase the ability to promote the immediate safety of someone who may be at risk of suicide and provide links to further help. This training is suitable for everyone who wants to help prevent suicide and is prepared to become a suicide alert helper. SafeTALK suicide alert helpers are trained to: Move beyond common tendencies to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide: Identify people who have thoughts of suicide: Apply the TALK steps to connect a person with suicidal thoughts to people and agencies that can help. Booking is essential and booking forms are available from the Centre. Places must be booked before May 19th. This course is FREE. Boyle FRC supports you, your family & our community, we are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm(closed 1pm to 2pm)

Once again, Boyle is the place to be this summer, with appearances by Anúna, Declan O’Rourke, Miriam O’Callaghan, Eddi Reader, Brian Kennedy, Rackhouse Pilfer, Regina Nathan, The Celtic Tenors, Michael McHale, The Inishowen Gospel Choir, Jon Kenny and Mary McEvoy all lined up for the 28th annual Boyle Arts Festival, which will take place from Thursday 20th July to Sunday 30th July. More details of very exciting and diverse events will soon be announced when the official programme is launched, in June. The Festival calendar is already bursting at the seams with almost fifty events, including an eclectic mix of visual arts, music, drama, film, comedy, workshops, storytelling, children’s events, poetry, readings and much more! If you are planning a visit to Boyle this summer, then make it late July, so you can enjoy as much of BAF 2017 as possible! ROSARY RALLY 
Saturday 13th May: To mark the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s first apparition at Fatima on the 13th May in 1917 there will be a Rosary Rally at the Marian Shrine, Carrick Road at 6.30pm followed by 7.30pm mass in St. Joseph's Church

MID WEEK CYCLE 
Curlieu Wheelers mid-week spins have commenced and will be held every Wednesday departing from the Crescent at 6pm. An evening spin will also take place on Friday’s at 6pm with the main weekend cycle on Sunday’s at 9pm. the Lough Key Classic will take place on Sunday May 14th

Council for the use of the beautifully restored King House which as always, houses the centrepiece of Boyle Arts Festival – the main Visual Exhibition, once again curated by Paul McKenna. The theme this year is ‘Facing West’ and the exhibition features 95 of the very best artists from the West of Ireland.  Several other exhibitions, including the highly acclaimed Local Artists exhibition, will take place during the Festival and details will be available in the programme. BOYLE MUSICAL SOCIETY 
The Society are delighted to reveal that this year’s show will be the spectacular, much loved musical, ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and are  delighted to announce that the show will be staged in late November, in the beautiful atmospheric surroundings of St. Joseph’s Church in Boyle. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and text by Tim Rice, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ is a show for all the family and features well known songs like ‘Close Every Door’ and ‘Any Dream Will Do’.
