ARDCARNE GARDEN CENTRE BOYLE
The Centre will be holding a FREE Mini Garden Design Consultation every Wednesday from 4th October until 25th October commencing at 11am until 12.30pm. Bring along photos and an outline sketch and get 30minutes of ideas and inspiration form out professional Garden Designer on creating your perfect garden.

Calling all Boyle Businesses and Community Groups
As you may be aware, the town of Boyle was the recipient of The Bank of Ireland Most Enterprising Town Award 2017. To celebrate this accolade, the town will play host to an Enterprise and Innovation event in The Spool Factory in Boyle on the evening of October 6th from 6.30 pm to 9.15 pm. As well as involving the business community, the initiative involves the wider community and local schools to ensure everyone can get involved and be part of the positive experience. As part of the evening there will be exhibition spaces for local businesses to meet new customers and interact with other local businesses.  There will also be exhibition spaces for clubs, societies, associations etc., from the locality, with all displaying at the event. The event promises to be a fantastic showcase of Enterprise and Community, and will feature a panel discussion on the Future of Boyle and presentations from local schools who are partaking in Bank of Irelands Young Entrepreneurship Programme Bizworlds. Special guest on the night will be Entrepreneur, Businessman and Broadcaster Bobby Kerr. There is no charge for exhibitors and admission is free for this event. Tea/Coffee and refreshments being served by Bank of Ireland.  If you could attend and exhibit and bring with you your family, friends and customers as this will make the event a really enjoyable and worthwhile experience for all in Boyle. Parish Pastoral council meeting
The Diocese is hosting the Pastoral Gathering again this year in Boyle, and is assisting in its preparation. The Icon of the Holy Family (World Meeting of Families) will be present for veneration at the Gathering on Saturday 7th October and again in St Joseph’s Church on the Sunday and Monday. St Joseph’s Church are working on a Celebration of Baptism for those Baptised in the last year in October and have discussed lighting the Church and its grounds.

Climate Change Conference
This event will take place in the Bush Hotel, Carrick on Shannon on Saturday 7th October at 10.30 until 4.30 and is being sponsored by the Galilee Community, Tintagh, Boyle. Speakers on the day will be Nellie McLaughlin who is a native of Donegal and a member of the Sisters of Mercy, Northern Province.  Eamon Ryan is the Leader of the Green Party who’s main task is building the Party. Eamon formerly chaired the Digital and Energy Policy Groups for the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin. Run Walk N Roll 2017
Now in its 22nd year in Boyle, will take place on Sunday the 15th of October at 3pm at St. Joseph's Hall Boyle. A percentage of the funds raised this year will be donated to 'Niamh's Journey There' as she continues her difficult journey! Check out this link: https://niamhsjourneythere.wordpress.com The theme of this year's run is 'Fight back against Cancer' so that we all come out and fight against it together, both for Niamh and anyone else who benefits from the funds raised for Cancer Research in Ireland. It is a 5.4km run/walk and we encourage everyone to come out and participate, fancy dress is welcome. Entry is on the day and refreshments will be served afterwards. Sponsor cards available. In excess of €160,000 has been raised for cancer research in Boyle, through this event over the last 21 years. Hopefully this money has benefitted people through their journey with cancer and will benefit Niamh on her journey in this difficult time. Boyle golf Club
Winter Open 9 Hole S/Ford which took place on Sunday 24th September with winner being Gerry Carty 21pts, 2nd Michael Connolly 20pts and 3rd Pat Conroy 19pts. The Roscommon cup to be held in Ballaghaderreen Golf Club has been re-arranged for Saturday 14th October. Winter league will be coming up soon and a sheet is Available on the Notice board. Update 22nd September

Roscommon Solstice Choir
This is a voluntary community choir that has raised in excess of €150,000 for charities in Ireland and in London since it was set up in 2013. The choir performs free-of-charge. Members pay their own way to practice and concerts and also pay for day-to-day expenses such as hall-hire, insurance, bus hire, photocopying etc. In order to lighten the burden on members the choir will hold a fundraising concert in Kilronan Castle Hotel on Sunday 1st October, 8 pm. Guest on the night Charlie McGettigan 
A fabulous night of entertainment for only €10.

Niamh’s Journey There
There will be a Pop up Boutique shop opening up in the former Xtravision Shop on Main Street, Boyle on Sunday October 1st from 12 until 6pm all in aid of Niamh’s Journey There.

St Joseph’s Church are working on a Celebration of Baptism for those Baptised in the last year in October and have discussed lighting the Church and its grounds.

Update 17th September

MASSIVE THANKS
Curlieu Wheelers Cycling club would like to thank the following for their help and assistance in raising €9000 last weekend for Niamh’s Journey There: Management and staff of Londis and Supervalu supermarkets, Garda Michael Pilkington and Superintendent Seamus Boyle, David Greene, Darren Purcell, Abbey College TY students, Better Buys, Carmels Skincare and Beauty, Ann Wynne Fitness, Brogan’s Pharmacy, Smith, Kelly, Scott, Keith Conroy, Trailcyling, local media, all the bucket collectors and the many guest cyclists from the club and the town who participated on either or both days. The generosity of the community to the cycle has been outstanding and the club wish Niamh well for the future.

Pop Up event in Park Visitor Centre
INSIDE [CRAFT] invites you to its Pop Up Retail Event on Culture Night 2017 at 4.00 pm on Friday 22 September in Lough Key Forest Park Visitor Centre, Boyle. This event, introducing the new INSIDE [CRAFT] Network, will be an opportunity to meet craftspeople, hear about what inspires them, see and purchase their work, in the beautiful surroundings of Lough Key Forest Park The Pop Up Retail event will continue on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th from 10am to 5pm each day. INSIDE [CRAFT] is a strong, vibrant network representing the craftspeople, artists and designers of Cavan, Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon.

Curlew Walkers Club
All are welcome to join the walks for an Open weekend which takes place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September. Both days meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 10am
The Saturday walk programme will be, Level C. Castlebaldwin to Balinafad, route will follow the historical trail over the Bricklieve Mountains, length 12km with 200m climb, time 3 to 4 hours. Level A.Castlebaldwin to Boyle, route will follow the historical trail over the Bricklieve and Curlew Mountains, length 18km with 400m climb. Water proof boots needed for the Curlews, time 6 hours approx. Sunday walks programme: Level C. Arigna Mining Experience to Keadue, This route will follow a steady climb up the slopes of Kilronan Mountain, yielding a fine view of Lough Allen. The route takes us past the Mining Experience and continues towards the top of Kilronan Mountain, then sweeping downwards into Keadue. Length 7 km with 200m climb, 3 to 3.5 hours. Level A. Arigna  Mining Experience to Lough Key. This route will follow a steady climb up the slopes of Kilronan Mountain, yielding a fine view of Lough Allen. The route takes us past the Mining Experience and continues towards the top of Kilronan Mountain, then sweeping downwards into Keadue. The route will then follow the historical trail past Lough Meelagh on to the Bogside Inn and then on to Crossna. From Crossna we continue on the Historical trail to Lough Key. Length 20km with 260m climb, time 6 hours approx. Boyle Scout registration night
Registration Night for all New and Existing members will be held on Wednesday 20th September between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm in the Scout Den. All Parents who wish to enrol a child for the coming year must please register them on this night. The minimum age is strictly 6 years old. Please note that while they are accepting registration of New Members, places will be dependent both on returning member numbers and Leader numbers and therefore cannot be immediately guaranteed. Weekly meetings will resume where possible the following week, beginning Monday 25th September. Due to a shortage of Leaders, some of our Sections will not be able to re-open, as things stand. We are trying to address this situation, and appeal to anyone that may be willing to help out, to please take that leap of faith and contact us. Being a Leader can be hugely rewarding, many people even finding that they enjoy it!! Full training will be provided, particular skills are not required. Anyone who may be interested in becoming a Leader in any of the Sections would be most welcome and can contact the Group Leader on 086 8360222 or any Leader for further details.

SUMMER STARS ON CULTURE NIGHT
This year we are marking Culture Night in Boyle Library with the awards ceremony for all those children that have completed this year’s Summer Stars challenge. This will take place in the Boyle Library on Friday 22nd September at 6.15pm and will be followed at 6.30pm by the wonderful Chris Thompson providing a storytelling session for 7 – 10 years old.

BOYLE & DISTRICT ANGLING CLUB
Next Angling Competition will be the Martin Mitchell Cup which will be taking place on Lough Key on Sunday 24th September. Fishing from 11am until 6pm and this will be a Boat Competition. Also taking place this month will be the Paddy Kelly Cup which will take place on Lough Gara on Saturday 30th August from 10am until 4pm.

Joint Policing public meeting in Boyle
King House in Boyle will be the venue for a Public Meeting of County Roscommon Joint Policing Committee. It will take place on Thursday 28th September commencing at 7pm.
All members of the public are invited to attend and put questions to the committee concerning policing in the county. Questions should be received no later than Thursday 21st September to Breta Coyle, Community and Enterprise, Aras an Chontae, Roscommon or to bcoyle@roscommoncoco.ie The Roscommon Joint Policing Committee (JPC) was established under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 and is a partnership between the Elected Members and Staff of Roscommon County Council, Oireachtas Members, An Garda Síochána, and the Community. The Roscommon JPC is a forum where matters that affect policing in the County can be discussed. Cllr Rachel Doherty is the local public representative on the committee

Orienteering event in Forest Park
Lough Key Forest Park will again be a centre of action on Sunday September 24th when Sligo Orienteering club will hold a score event in the Park. The day will commence at 11am. This event has only one start time as it is a mass start event. Please do not come late. Please arrive no later than 11.00am with a mass start to commence shortly afterwards. Meet at the campsite entrance.

This year’s Run Walk n Roll in aid of Cancer Research will take place in Boyle on Sunday the 15th of October. Due to the timing of the event it has being decided to give a percentage of this year's fund to ‘Niamhs Journey There ' fund. Hopefully the money (in excess of €160.000) raised in Boyle over the last 21 years will have benefited many on their journey with Cancer and hopefully will benefit Niamh on her difficult journey. Update 1st September



Boyle Tennis Club

Tennis coaching will recommence in Boyle on Wednesday September 6th with an eight week course bringing us up to half term. Times are: 3:30pm until 4:30pm for children from 5yrs. to 8yrs. and 4:30pm until 5:30pm for 9yrs+. The full cost of the course is €40 but why not come along on 6th Sept., and for €5 tries it out!? All equipment including racquets and balls are provided free! Also, in case of bad weather we have great indoor facilities! So, just come

Niamh’s Journey there

Curlieu Wheelers Cycling Club will be running a static cycle to raise money for "Niamh's Journey There". This will take place at Londis Supermarket, The Crescent, Boyle, on Friday 8th September and Saturday 9th September. The cyclists will cover "Niamh's Journey There", a distance of 1830 km, which is the equivalent of Boyle to Birmingham and back to Boyle again. The event kicks off at 10.30 am each morning and will run all day. Club members will cover most of the distance but we would appeal to everyone, young and old, to come along and pedal a few kilometres with us to show your support for Niamh. We will provide the bikes and equipment. Donations can be made at Londis on the day, or at any time to the Go Fund Me page at:www.gofundme.com/niamhs-journey-there We would like to extend a HUGE thanks to Neil, Olive, Dan, Richard and staff at Londis for accommodating us.


BASIC FIRST AID COURSE INCORPORATING CPR
The venue for this course will be the Boyle Family Resource Centre and will be taking place on Thursday September 7th at 9.30am until 5pm. To provide each participant with the necessary skills to give immediate treatment to an adult who has been injured or taken ill suddenly, prior to the arrival of the medical services (Ambulance or Doctor). To provide treatment where no further medical (Doctor) treatment is required. To Preserve Life, Prevent Further Injury and Promote Recovery.  The trainer on the day will be James McLoughlin of Absolute Safety. On successful completion of courses, each participant will receive a Certificate issued by Absolute Safety

Celtic cycle to Croagh Patrick
This year’s annual Boyle Celtic cycle to and climb of Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday September 10th. The cycle will leave Celtic Park at 8am. If interested, please advise Eddie Conroy on 086 257 4257 or eddie@trojan.ie to ascertain numbers. This is always an enjoyable day out with a bus trip home for participants.

Cannonball Run to pass Boyle
This year’s annual Cannonball Run will travel past Boyle on Sunday September 10th. The Adrenalin fuelled event is the largest organised road trip in Europe and the most exciting motoring and social event of the year with most of the world’s top mark car such as McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce taking part. The cars leave Dublin on Friday 8th September heading to Limerick. On Saturday they arrive in Sligo town centre at 6.30pm joining the N4 at Collooney On Sunday 10th they will leave Rosses Point at 10am, passing on the N4 Curlew Bypass at approximately 10.30am before their finish in Kilkenny later that evening.

MOBILE UNIT IN BOYLE
The Marie Keating Foundation mobile unit & nurse will once again visit the Family Resource Centre, Boyle on Tuesday September 12th from 10.30am to 3pm. The Foundation Mobile Information Units are staffed by a specialist nurse and visit community groups, workplaces, organisations and public places to bring cancer information straight into the heart of communities nationwide.

BOYLE BOOK CLUB
Boyle Library Book Club is eager as always to welcome new members. Meetings are held monthly in the library, at 11am on a Wednesday mid-month. More details can be had from Boyle Library. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the best of books and the liveliest discussion and to present their own suggestions to the group. Book for Sept is “Dear Life” by Alice Munro and there are copies in the library. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, 13th September at 11am.

Boyle Musical Society
The forthcoming   production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ will be staged from November 23rd to 25th in St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle. Rehearsals have just begun in St. Joseph’s Hall and a warm welcome is extended to all new, former and existing members to join up for twelve unforgettable weeks of music, singing, drama, dancing, comedy and lots more…. Rehearsals will continue in the Hall on Monday and Thursday evenings. Our Musical Director Anne and Director/Choreographer, Vivienne will be on hand to outline the show to everybody, so come along and join the fun. Moving the show to a different venue for this year, is a huge undertaking and challenge for BMS but we can assure both participants and audiences alike, that this will be a monumental production and a truly spectacular, unforgettable experience for all involved! We will be looking for children from 5th and 6th class to take part in the show and we will hold a workshop specifically for them, at a later date. More details to follow. Based on ‘The Coat of Many Colours’ from the book of Genesis, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and text by Tim Rice, ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ is a show for all the family. It features well known songs like ‘Close Every Door’ and ‘Any Dream Will Do’. Boyle Musical Society last staged ‘Joseph…’ back in 2001.

Courtyard Market
The Market takes place every Saturday in the Grounds of King House, Boyle from 10am until 2pm...If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to the Courtyard Market should be on your agenda.
